Amery

Amery | Continue As Amery | 3hive.com

Montreal-based artist Amery (Amery Sanford) just dropped her solo debut LP, Continue As Amery, and I am anointing it the album of the summer with its eight synth-heavy, shimmery, electro-pop tunes that are like cruising to the local video store to rent a VCR and a copy of The Last Dragon in a yellow Volkswagen Rabbit with the windows down and “Hotwire The Night” (below) blaring at full blast.

Continue As Amery is out now via Night School Records. I can’t stop listening to it, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. We should be getting copies very soon. Keep an eye on our stories to make sure you don’t miss out. Enjoy.

Geo

Geo | Out of Body | 3hive.com

Netherlands 4-piece Geo answer that age old question “what if Mark E. Smith had fronted Talking Heads?”

Geo’s latest no-wave slab, Out of Body, answers that question.

Out of Body is ten tracks of post-punk, no-wave, weird-o goodness that is PACKED with groove. The rhythm section is TIGHT and holds things together while the guitars wind, shred, noodle and slice their way through.

Check out a couple of the standouts “Caught A Cricket” and “Wu Obt Fas” (below) for a taste.

Out of Body is out now via German label Erste Theke Tontraeger. You can get it on vinyl or digital from their Bandcamp page of from Geo themselves. JUST GET IT. Enjoy.

Still Ruins

Still Ruins | S/T | 3hive.com

Still Ruins’ dreamy, debut S/T EP was and is just what I needed to get me out of the funk I’ve been in caused by some brutally long days at the day job.

The Oakland trio’s use of shimmery synths to cut through their manufactured fog of fuzzed-out bass lines and vocals, creates an effective blend of post-punk and new wave That I enjoyed the hell out of. Fans of bands like Tears For Fears and Choir Boy should definitely take notice.

Still Ruins’ S/T is out today via Smoking Room. I give it 16.5 out of 20 corn dogs. Go nab it, get out the fog machine and some mood lighting and crank it up. Enjoy

Wu-Lu

Wu-Lu/3hive.com

South London’s multi-talented Wu-Lu is about to release his debut album LOGGERHEAD with Warp Records. His newest single from it — “Scrambled Tricks” — is a grimy, beat-driven, post/punk rock-adjacent(?) track that has me stoked for the album drop.

Check out the fear of clowns inducing video for “Scrambled Tricks” below and be sure to mark your calendars for July 8 to get your hands on this bad boy. Enjoy

Swiss Portrait

Swiss Portrait | Familiar Patterns | 3hive.com

Swiss Portrait’s debut album Familiar Patterns was just what I needed today to lift my spirits and pull me out of the funk I’ve been in all morning dealing with the passing of our beloved dog (Lucy) last night.

Swiss Portrait is the DIY project of Edinburg based artist Michael Kay Terence who recorded and produced Familiar Patterns in his spare room.

Familiar Patterns is full of warm and dreamy bedroom pop goodness – a sure cure for what ails you. Please give “Find My Way” a spin below, you’ll be glad you did. Trust me.

You can get your hands on this digitally and on cassette from Z Tapes’ Bandcamp page. Enjoy.

Thank you Michael for giving me the lift I needed.

I am here today to introduce you to Harrisonburg, VA’s Wineteeth and premier their newest single “Haunted Boy” from their upcoming cassette release Soft Bangers.

“Haunted Boy” is the second single from Soft Bangers. It’s a chugging guitar and bass driven tune that bounces around in your skull for its short 2:08 duration. It reminds me of the band Pretty Girls Make Graves a bit. You need to check out the stream of it below.

Soft Bangers is a killer album, full of melodic, punk rock goodness. There is nothing soft about this album. The cassette release will be dropping soon via Funny / Not Funny Records. I highly recommend it.
