Radiation City

Portland-based Radiation City recently dropped their third LP and first with Polyvinyl Records. Synesthetica is a hook-driven, electro-pop gold mine – the deeper you dig into the album the more rich stuff you find. Check out one of many standout tracks “Milky White” (below) for a taste.

Synesthetica is out now and available in all formats from Polyvinyl.

Wahyas

Greensboro, NC duo Wahyas play a sinister style of raunchy, garage-psych that’s hard to top. Their own description, “Evil garage gospel like Johnny & June with less church”, pretty much sums it up.

They just co-released their 7″ single, Third Eye, with Shipwrecked Records and  Six Tonnes De Chair Records. You can get this on vinyl or digitally through Six Tonnes De Chair’s Bandcamp page. You can download this directly from Wahyas’ Bandcamp page as well. Stream this bad boy (below) and get your self a copy on wax before they are gone.

jinsang

California beat maker jinsang combines jazz cuts over chilled out beats to create some killer, smooth, grooved-out tracks. His latest release, solitude., is 26 tracks of pure groove. The more I listen to it the higher it jumps up my favorite releases of 2016 list.

His entire catalog is available to buy on his Bandcamp page for only a measly $7 bucks! Trust me that’s $7 bucks well spent my friends. Below are a few tracks from solitude. and a new one he just put up on his Soundcloud page. Check them out, then go get your hands on some of his music. Enjoy.

The Madcaps

I missed on the Madcaps debut self-titled last year, I will not make that same mistake twice. These rockers out of Rennes, France play a sugary sweet brand of fuzzy garage pop tunes that could come off of any of the old Nuggets compilations of psych/garage songs from the 60’s. Their ode to the Taco Truck could be our founder, Sean’s theme song.

Below are two songs for your listening pleasure, “Too Big for Your Boots” from their new album, Hot Sauce, and “Emily Vandelay” from last year’s debut. Both are great examples of what these guys can do.

Hot Sauce is out now on Howlin’ Banana Records. Enjoy.

Pillar Point

Scott Reitherman is back with his second album as Pillar Point, Marble Mouth. Recorded at Kevin Barnes’ (of Montreal) home studio, Marble Mouth is an electro-pop masterpiece with of enough throbbing bass and synths to make any fan of 80’s electro drool. Check out the sun-soaked “Dove” below for a taste.

Marble Mouth is out on January 22 through Polyvinyl Records, it’s a must have for your record collection.

Krisp

Miami quartet Krisp blend elements of electro-pop, chillwave and some good old rock and roll to create a throwback of sorts to the new wave sounds of the 80’s.

Check out their super-tight, dance-pop single “167” below (named for it’s BPM), it’s the most upbeat track from their new album, Sonic Monarch, and one of the best from it.

Sonic Monarch is out on January 15 via Gummdrop Records.

Peter Stringer-Hye

Nashville native, and member of The Paperhead, Peter Stringer-Hye recently released an incredible self-titled EP with Trouble In Mind Records. Check out EP closer “Throw Away The Day”, it’s a country tinged, psychedelic, toe-tapper and my favorite track from the EP. Head over to TiM’s site and snag yourself a copy before they are all gone.

The Trash Templars

Bielefeld, Germany’s The Trash Templars bring the snotty, in your face garage rock on their new self-titled EP, available now from Kuriosa Records. Give opening track “Want To Be Like You” a spin, it’s a 2 minute stomper that I guarantee will get you bouncing off the walls. Enjoy.

Band and The Beat

Band & The Beat is the new project of husband and wife duo Tracy Shedd and James Tritten. Using only analog synthesizers and an analog drum machine, they have created quite the infectious dream-pop sound.

Dig on the warbly synths and lo-fi vocals of their first single “Buoy” below. Hopefully there will be many more songs from these guys in the future. Enjoy.

London-based multi-instrumentalist/producer Shawn Lee and Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter AM have collaborated again to release their stellar third release Outlines. Outlines is a groovetastic blend of toe tapping, head bobbing, synth-heavy pop and funk. Get a taste of their grooviness below in the stream of album opener “Persuasion”.

Outlines is available to buy in all formats from their Bandcamp page. It’s a good one.
