G. Love

I’ll be honest. I’ve let G. Love drop off my radar. It’s been a long while since I’ve chilled out with a cold beverage tapping my toes along with G. Love’s white boy Philadelphonic blues. He’s sweetened up his new album, Lemonade, quite nicely with Blackalicious and Lateef on my favorite track, “Banger.” Perhaps you prefer a twist of Ben Harper, or a pinch of Donovan Frankenreiter. G. Love’s got a posse and they’ve set up their lemonade and blues stand just in time for me to drop some quarters on a refreshing, late-summer cool-me-down.

  1. Living in Southern California makes you strongly dislike G. Love, because everybody listens to all of that stoner white boy blues folk stuff. There was a time when I didn't mind a little "Cold Beverage" though.

  2. Living in S. California must be hugely annonying in an of itself.
    G. Love has merit, even if it's too cool for S. Cal.
    Listen. Enjoy.

  3. Ha! I dated a southern Californian and HE was hugely annoying! "Cool" isn't about geography, it's a mindset. I'll take G.Love's laid-back, bluesy style anyday over some pretentious Top 40 crap. I've got sauce!

  4. I love G Love. I have been a fan for quite a while and had the opportunity to see him at a free concert while the Sundance Film Festival was going on here in Utah. He was so much fun to watch. I recently made a desktop wallpaper in tribute to him and his new CD, G Love's Lemonade. If you want to check it out, use it, critique it or just look at it feel free to do so. You'll find a link above. Thanks!
