Quiet Life

Back in my day… you wouldn’t be caught dead listening to Bruce Springsteen. But what did I know? We were a bunch of suburban punk rock kids; we were beyond anything that sounded like it was made in Iowa. I’m less closed-minded nowadays, thankfully, but I still haven’t got around to listening to the Boss. Bands like Quiet Life make me think I probably should.

  1. i am a boss nut if i say so myself..i know that a lot of folks think he is uncool, but you have to make up your own mind on that i guess. give him a try..you may find yourself humming along to waitin for a sunny day or holding a cigarette lighter aloft during growin up…check it out

  2. Rage Against does Ghost of Tom Joad by Bruce. I sent my cousin tickets to Seattle concert of Bruce and E Street Band and their punk or ? band (I think Blood Brothers) are covering Jungleland. He has most of Springsteen's work now. Listen to Thunder Road and Blinded by the Light.

  3. Hey Sean, the only concert ticket stub in my wallet is from a Springsteen solo show in Detroit in 1994. It was so good it was scary — he does this haunted acoustic version of 'Born in the U.S.A.' that turns the song into the most powerful Vietnam war protest song ever. Makes you wonder why he recorded the rah-rah version, but I suppose we all have bills to pay…

  4. I felt the same way about Bruce growing up (okay, even until now). Then, a few weeks ago heard some stuff off his new album on NPR's American Roots (I think that's where I heard it), and wow, incredible stuff. Felt like I've been missing out on quite a bit.
