RIP Odetta
Whether you know her name or not, you've heard Odetta. Bob Dylan credits her for getting him to sell his electric guitar and go acoustic. Rosa Parks said that her favorite music was "all of the songs that Odetta sings." She sang at the March on Washington in 1963, and she had hoped to sing at Barack Obama's inauguration. Sadly, she won't be there in body, but her spirit and voice will surely uplift all in attendance, as it has for more than half a century. Rest in peace, Odetta.
