Christmas Cereal Treat from Compost Records

When I was a kid one of the best things we'd wake up to Christmas morning were our stockings stuffed with mini-cereal boxes, sugary cereal—the kind mom would never let us eat during the year. All these sweet memories came crunching back when I heard "Cornflake Boy" from Marbert Rocel, one of Compost Records' newest signings. The song's available as a free download from Compost's myspace page. I have bigger plans for our breakfast tomorrow: sourdough pancakes from a decades old family starter. Mmmmmm, pancakes.

Silversun Pickups Remix EP

Modern Rock radio's embrace of Silversun Pickups' "Well Thought Out Twinkles," has both surprised and pleased me. It looks as if the 'Pickups may have a Top 10 hit on their hands. In an effort to fan their fans' flames the band will release a remix EP, this Tuesday on iTunes, featuring remixes from Jimmy Tamborello (Postal Service) and labelmate The One AM Radio. Only two songs get a holiday make-over, unfortunately "Well Thought Out Twinkles" isn't one of them, but hey, this season is all about giving not getting, right? Well, get a load of what Silversun Pickups have to give:
