Commit a Faux Pas
Australia's intrepid loop tamer Faux Pas is back with more flavor than a bag of Sunkist Fruit Gems. His sophomore effort (such a music critic's term; who in real life ever calls a second album a "sophomore effort"?) is called Entropy Begins at Home. Here are a couple tastes:
For the Trees [MP3, 6.5MB, 192kbps]
Hermann's Hermans [MP3, 6.0MB, 192kbps]
The Dance Floor, Get on It...This Beat Is Klepto-tronic
If anyone is capable of making the term "mash-up" seem inadequate, it's the inimitable Kleptones, who have a new double-decker called 24 Hours. Below are a couple teasers, but you can grab the whole thing via torrent or à la carte over at Kleptones Central.
Closer to the Boxer [MP3, 6.2MB, VBR]
The Cure's "Close to Me" vs. Asheru's "Think About" vs. Simon and Garfunkel's "The Boxer"
What's the Matter With Your Lines, Baby [MP3, 4.4MB, VBR]
Duran Duran's version of "White Lines" (ewww!) vs. Marvin Gaye and Mary Wells' "What's the Matter With You Baby"
Imagine the End of the World [MP3, 6.1MB, VBR]
Super Furry Animals' "It's Not the End of the World" vs. John Lennon's "Imagine"

Last week was my daughter's birthday, and the week before the show was pre-empted by a 13 inning baseball game. It was nice to be back on the air playing my newest faves.

Spring Brings The Drips
The first time I ever saw Matt C. perform was basically with The Drips line-up. Pre-Drips, pre-Bronx. He sang one song with the band and ruled it. He embodies the raw energy of rock 'n' roll—the whole band does and it's about time these boys are putting out an album! The Drips announced release dates earlier this week: the single "Broken" on April 10th, self-titled album on April 24th, followed by the single, and long time Drips "hit," "16, 16, 6" on June 5th. Get 'em here. Get 'em now.
16, 16, 6 [MP3, 5.2MB, 192kbps]
Down Brown [MP3, 2.6MB, 192kbps]
Cold War Kids on Fire
Cold War Kids have recorded two EPs since we featured them back in November. Have at 'em:
Hospital Beds [MP3, 4.4MB, 128kbps]
Tell Me in the Morning [MP3, 5.0MB, 192kbps]
They're also in L.A. tonight and tomorrow, then they head out on a national tour with Two Gallants. Full tour dates here.
Figuring Out Figurines
Every since posting Figurines a week ago I can't stop listening to the album. The hooks are completely insane and the album's filled with them. So here's another reminder to listen! If you still need more proof after hearing the MP3s, check out the ecard. They're obviously making some noise at SXSW—cuz Spin just hit 'em with Band of the Day. My ONLY complaint is that the album starts out too slow for me with "Race You." They should have saved that track for later in the album, to give you a chance to catch your breath after all the pogoing they tend to induce.
What's That Swound?
On rare occasions we'll post a little something something to our myspace page that we think you oughtta hear and can only do so over at that itty-bitty website. Today's such an occasion. Step on over and get a load of Swound.
New Talkdemonic Album + MP3
It's been a good year and a half since we posted Talkdemonic. Since then Kevin O'Connor signed up with Arena Rock Recording Company and has a new album coming out March 21st. Here's a new song from the album, and be sure to treat yourself to the older tracks as well.
Mountaintops In Caves [MP3, 2.0MB, 128kbps]
New MP3 and Album from The Essex Green
I was kind of bummed that Clay had already posted The Essex Green, but what can you do? Repost? Maybe one of these days...
Enjoy "Don't Know Why (You Stay)" from the soon-to-be-released Cannibal Sea.

Play It As It Lays #229
This show started off with a bang! A great new track from the Australian funk band The Bamboos... If you're listening at work, beware of that Mylo track: plenty of choice words your boss may frown on.
