New King of France MP3 Available Now

I'll admit that my head is spinning with bad puns about how The King of France is giving away something for free, and that if it had only been The Queen of France giving away a "White Confection," oh man, that would have been awesome! But even without the subpar shots at humor from yours truly, the light and jangly new single now available from the 3hive entry should double your listening pleasure...sorry, couldn't resist.

Tender Forever Live!

Perhaps this ain't the best place for me to rave about Tender Forever's live show, but here I go anyway! Holy moly, Melanie was incredible, part musician/poet/child/dancer/manipulator/artist/provacateur/comic/songwriter. And her voice live is so loud, so strong, so filling. I'd like to say more, but I want everyone to experience her show like we did, not knowing anything beforehand. Maybe I've said too much already, cause we didn't know it was going to be so good. So go here to find your way to her tour dates and set a goal right now to attend.

New Beat Radio MP3s

Clay IMed me the other day and asked why all of Beat Radio's music couldn't be as beautiful as "Treetops" (the demo version, natch). As if in response, Brian from Beat Radio emails me today with links to a few new MP3s: two fresh demos ("Another Loveless Anthem" and "Everything Is Temporary") and an album cut ("Mexico"). All three are good, but "Everything Is Temporary" may just give Clay what he's aching for...maybe. Check our Beat Radio post and listen for yourself.

New Donna Regina MP3

We reported on the new Donna Regina album a couple months back (in fact Donna Regina was one of very first posts here at 3hive) but at the time there weren't any new MP3s available. Their label Karaoke Kalk pulled through and pulled out (they axed the link to "Late"). Get their new song "How Beautiful," an ode to darker, distracted days, here.

New Soft Music Added

The boys from Soft have been taking a break from playing out to write new songs, and one of the results is “Higher,” a guitar-driven anthem that swirls and chimes into the atmoshphere. It feels like it was written expressly for the arenas, and while Soft isn't there yet in reality, in spirit they've been there all along.

You can purchase "Higher" as part of the band’s new EP, available through their website. In the meantime, enjoy the MP3.

Higher [MP3, 5.4MB, 192kbps]

Would You Sign This Band?

Bono recently pulled this band out of the audience and let them play "Out Of Control" onstage, on U2's instruments. Of course, major label A&R executives scrambled to find out who the band was, as reported in the L.A. Times, and I wouldn't be surprised if some label signed them. While the band, Exit, was on stage Bono said, "It pays to advertise." They were wise to advertise their live performance first and not their original songs.

Fixed Podcast #9's Levels

The version of Podcast #9 that went up on Sunday had super quiet vocals and super loud music. The levels have been readjusted and a new version posted for your listening pleasure.

This sorta thing is like having something in your teeth and no one has the nerve to tell you. So thanks, Paul, for telling me I have something in my teeth...metaphorically.
