Join the Clubbo
I remember standing at my locker as a freshman in high school and overhearing the following conversation:
Guy 1: "What did you do this weekend?"
Guy 2: "Saw this movie about some metal band called Spinal Tap."
Guy 1: "Was it good?"
Guy 2: "It was okay, but I don't see how they got a movie made about them — it's not they're Zeppelin or anything."
These were the kind of guys who liked to hang people like me by the shirt collar on towel hooks in the locker room, so I snickered on the inside. But oh, how I snickered...
You can imagine then how much snickering I'm doing — on the inside and outside — as I browse through www.clubbo.com. Clubbo is the brainchild of guitarist/writer Joe Gore and composer/writer Elise Malmberg, a satirical record label complete with a 40-year history including bios, photos, album art, and full-length MP3s for each artist in its diverse catalog. Personal faves include Suthrn Cuzn's raunchy anthem "Sonofabitch" and Bleep's synthy come-on "Rubber Lover." (Thanks, Patatomic.)
A Fancey Magical Summer
Skippy over at March Records was kind enough to share a brand new track from Fancey. Hit that last link for a soaring, warm soundtrack to this summer.
3hive Does Portland

We at 3hive have been big fans of Portland in general for some time (Powell's anyone?). Here's a bunch of music we've featured from Portland artists. Anything else we should know about?

Cute (That's Right, I Said Cute) Jens Lekman Video
The opening lines to Jens Lekman's "You Are the Light" go: "Yeah, I got busted/So I used my one phone call/To dedicate a song to you on the radio." Seems like my man's only crime is a silly, sentimental heart and a video to match.
